Skype
I narrowed my focus for the skype brief onto focusing on conversations... where do conversations occur, what conversations take place over skype in relation to in person. I decided to focus on the idea of skype bringing people together so that they can have the same conversations they would have in person even if they were on opposite sides of the world. I did a personal investigation on conversations by sitting in a range of coffee shops in Leeds city center and recording the conversations over-heard. I want to incorporate this primary research into my resolution because skype enables one to feel as though you are 'catching up over a coffee' no matter how far away you are. These conversations are a complete random record and range from business talks to personal chats and gossip. I like the idea of skype 'making the world feel smaller' which is why I've chosen to focus on the world 'at your fingertips'.
After experimenting with designing a flick book as a resolution for this brief, I decided to focus solely on creating a poster due to time constraints and also to focus on my direction in design for advertising. Below shows my poster design development.
